Southwest Shipyard, LP

Overview

Southwest Shipyard, LP provides various marine services including repair and construction. The Welder (FCAW) Night Shift position involves using electrical currents to fuse metals for repairs or new components.

Responsibilities

• Grind barge and boat repair areas in preparation for welding.
• Weld barge and boat repair areas and specialty components to achieve full penetration welds.
• Operate welding and grinding equipment to accomplish weld and repair duties.
• Pass a welding test to obtain internal skill classification.
• Communicate and take directions from Foreman and Supervisor.
• Arrive to work on time and work overtime as required.
• Understand general policies and procedures as described in the quality and environmental manuals.
• Undergo a training program and participate in refresher training as needed.
• Have or be eligible for a TWIC card.

Requirements

• Must be proficient in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to multitask, learn quickly, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to understand Company Quality Manual and procedures.
• Ability to manage time and tasks effectively.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
