Overview
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the installation, alignment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment in a safety-sensitive oil terminal environment, ensuring the safe and compliant operation of various equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform all work in compliance with Terminal policies, local regulations, and applicable safety and environmental standards.
- Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and hazardous energy control procedures.
- Install, assemble, dismantle, and relocate pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, valves, and associated mechanical systems.
- Replace bearings, seals, couplings, and other mechanical components.
- Maintain centrifugal and positive displacement pumps used in product transfer operations.
- Assist with tank components, piping repairs, flange assembly, gasket replacement, and minor mechanical modifications.
- Safely operate hoisting and rigging equipment to position and install machinery.
- Execute preventative and corrective maintenance activities and support outage work.
- Document completed work, maintain accurate maintenance records, and assist in planning upcoming maintenance tasks.
- Participate in safety meetings and Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities including oil spill response.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and report incidents or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Work shifts, overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or approved equivalent.
- Additional Trades an asset.
- Strong reading, writing, communication and math skills including the ability to read procedures and perform arithmetic.
- Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
- Knowledge of Isometrics, P&ID’s, blueprints, diagrams, schematic drawings and manuals.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Oil/Gas Industry is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of petroleum products and industry terminology.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.

- Working conditions vary and employee may encounter vibration, noise, odors and extremes in temperature and wind.
- Occasionally exposed to petroleum-based products such as crude oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil and grease.
