Overview
The Facilities Mechanic - Elevator Systems position at UCLA involves performing maintenance and repair on campus bollard systems and related equipment under general supervision. The role supports the university's mission by ensuring a safe and reliable environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, alteration, and installation of campus retractable bollard systems and related non-elevator equipment.
- Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and control systems associated with retractable bollards and security gates.
- Inspect assigned equipment for proper operation and diagnose system failures.
- Assist journey-level trades personnel and contractors with maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Operate and maintain a variety of power tools, hand tools, testing equipment, and service vehicles.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders.
- Support emergency response activities involving bollard operations and loading dock equipment.
Requirements
- Ability to perform routine electrical maintenance tasks and troubleshoot de-energized electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of power and hand tools, equipment, and materials of the electrician's trade.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently follow through on assignments.
- Skill in reading standard English text and using oral communication skills.
- Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read project specifications, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to lift or lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
- Must possess a valid CA noncommercial Class C License upon hire.
