Overview

Helm is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with expertise in Process piping, HVAC, and Plumbing systems for various industrial building types. This role involves managing projects from conceptualization to completion, ensuring exceptional results through innovative management techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Own full P&L responsibility for projects in the $2M – $50M range.
  • Lead client strategy and account development for key industrial clients.
  • Drive preconstruction strategy, including estimating and risk planning.
  • Interface with executive leadership, owners, and developers.
  • Mentor and develop Project Managers, Engineers, and field leadership.
  • Drive fabrication integration.
  • Manage all aspects of Mechanical trade work, overseeing projects directly.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Utilize customer relations, project accounting, and cost control to drive project success.
  • Apply basic design and code knowledge effectively.
  • Supervise the entire construction process to ensure adherence to design, budget, and schedule.
  • Interpret and work from P&ID drawings for construction.
  • Coordinate company personnel activities for efficient project execution.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with clients and A/E contacts.
  • Monitor and control construction progress, analyzing variances and implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage financial aspects including buyouts, billings, and subcontractor agreements.
  • Make critical decisions impacting project profitability.
  • Authorize and oversee all project transactions.
  • Maintain project logs and documentation files.
  • Apply expertise in mechanical systems from project inception to closure.
  • Demonstrate experience in construction self-performance and direct craft labor oversight.
  • Previous experience as a Prime Contractor engaging directly with owners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with BIM/CAD processes and fabrication practices.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software.
  • Knowledge of ASME code and its application to piping fabrication.
  • Management of compliance records for weld procedures and certifications.

Requirements

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 10-15 years’ experience in leadership roles specific to Mechanical Trade Work.
  • 10-15 years of progressive trade experience with 5-10 years in construction leadership focusing on Mechanical Systems.
