Overview
The Operator Helper assists Operators in the asphalt production process, requiring good mechanical skills, basic computer skills, and effective team communication. The role involves self-direction, safety compliance, and participation in maintenance and production tasks.
Responsibilities
- Notify supervisor of any accidents or injuries immediately.
- Take personal ownership of safety and hold team members to high standards.
- Strive to maintain Total Productive Maintenance goals.
- Fix unsafe conditions and report them to the supervisor.
- Certify and operate in Truck Loading, Unloading, and Boiler Incinerator.
- Perform administrative tasks including data entry and production tracking.
- Climb stairs, read panel displays, and use operations manuals for troubleshooting.
- Become certified to operate a forklift.
- Attend and participate in meetings and training.
- Collaborate with Maintenance for equipment repairs.
- Follow all plant environmental control policies and procedures.
- Meet team expectations for reliability, teamwork, and process improvement.
- Comply with good housekeeping practices and safety regulations.
- Engage in Total Productive Maintenance activities.
- Encourage new ideas for best practices.
- Support pillar progress and address issues through TPM tags.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Manufacturing or Asphalt production experience is a plus.
- Good communication skills.
- Accountability and ownership for actions.
- Ability to think under pressure and make quick decisions.
- Ability to work well in a team or alone.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Ability to read a tape measure and do basic math.
- Forklift knowledge is useful.
Additional Information
- Regular attendance on site and ability to rotate to varying shifts.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have valid proof of authorization to work in the United States.
