Job Description

Overview

The Plasterer position involves preparing and applying plastering materials to various surfaces under supervision, while also performing related tasks. The role requires travel within assigned neighborhoods and is open to qualified individuals with disabilities under the 55-a Program.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and apply all plastering materials including Fireproofing, Soundproofing, and various types of Cement Stucco.
  • Use a hawk and trowel to apply plastering materials to walls, ceilings, piers, and columns.
  • Plaster partition walls and patch limited areas of damage on plaster walls.
  • Tape sheet rock and repair damaged sheet rock walls.
  • Set up and work on scaffolds.
  • Perform work in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Maintain records.
  • Supervise assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time satisfactory experience performing plastering work, or
  • At least one and a half years of full-time satisfactory experience performing plastering work plus sufficient experience as a plasterer's apprentice or relevant training.
  • Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of apprentice experience or approved trade or vocational high school training.

Additional Information

  • Travel to Developments within assigned neighborhood is required.
  • Position covers Queens-Staten Island Neighborhood 053 including Baisley Park, Beach 41st Street, Hammel, Redfern, and South Jamaica.
  • No residency requirements.
