Overview
SOCOTEC is a provider of niche consulting services within the architecture, engineering, and construction industries, focusing on high-performance buildings and specialty structures. They are seeking an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform structural steel inspection services on various construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform shop and field inspections of structural steel welding and bolting activities.
- Verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, AWS standards, and applicable building codes.
- Review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection requirements.
- Perform and document welding inspections in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate and review nondestructive testing (NDT) activities and results.
- Read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
- Prepare accurate daily reports, inspection documentation, and project records.
- Maintain complete and organized project files, including reports, field notes, correspondence, RFIs, and supporting documentation.
- Communicate inspection findings and project updates to project managers, contractors, engineers, and client representatives.
- Identify and document non-conforming work and verify corrective actions when required.
- Travel to project sites as needed to support inspection activities throughout the region.
- Perform inspections in accordance with company quality standards and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- UT Shear Wave Level II certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction quality assurance, welding inspection, special inspections, or related construction services.
- Thorough knowledge of structural steel welding, bolting, and applicable AWS codes and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and building code requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate project documentation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and organizational skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel for project assignments.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete background screening and drug testing requirements, if applicable.
Additional Information
- Locations: Phoenix, AZ or Salt Lake City, UT and willing to travel throughout Utah and Arizona.
