Overview
The Parks Maintenance Worker II position involves performing a variety of semiskilled to skilled tasks in maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of facilities at City parks and recreational areas. The role requires independent work and may involve supervising others.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction tasks in trades such as carpentry, welding, electrical, masonry, painting, or plumbing.
- Inspect park grounds, play facilities, and other equipment.
- Independently schedule and complete repairs.
- Plan and organize work activities.
- Transport, assemble, and dismantle equipment for special events.
- Provide functional supervision or lead direction and training for lower-level workers and volunteers.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in at least two building or related trades.
- Ability to wear a tight-fitting respirator and pass a medical evaluation.
- Possession of a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Instructional Permit with Tanker Endorsement.
- Subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing.
Additional Information
- Employees may be subject to yearly rotational stand-by duty and 24-hour call-out.
- Work may include evenings, early mornings, and weekend shifts.
