Overview

As a Shop Technician at Komatsu in Mesa, AZ, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of heavy machinery components through timely, precise repairs conducted within a well-equipped workshop environment. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong mechanical background looking to build a long-term career in heavy equipment repair and remanufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical repair, inspection, disassembly, assembly, and rebuild work on heavy equipment components in the Shop.
  • Work on mechanical portions of components related to electric drive haul trucks and electric shovels.
  • Support shop repair and remanufacturing work as assigned.
  • Inspect components for wear, damage, or required repairs.
  • Use mechanical aptitude and shop experience to troubleshoot and complete assigned work.
  • Follow safety, quality, and shop procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with shop leadership and team members to complete jobs efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
  • Provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to the customer.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, giving recommendations for repairs.
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
  • Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years related experience and/or training in the mining or construction equipment industry.
  • Able to work 4 10-hour days onsite.

Additional Information

  • May be required to become certified to operate a forklift and/or manlift.
  • May be required to complete a DOT physical.
  • Required to complete MSHA certification.
  • May be required to complete respirator certification.
  • Current schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
