Overview
The Maintenance Worker-Utilities position focuses on repairing and maintaining water and wastewater systems, ensuring community safety and service continuity. The role emphasizes the importance of community values and employee empowerment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare sites for work by placing hydraulic shoring jacks, excavating, and backfilling areas.
- Remove and restore residential landscaping during water/wastewater repairs.
- Make repairs to water/wastewater systems by determining necessary materials and resources.
- Ensure site and traffic safety by placing and removing traffic cones and barricades.
- Maintain vehicles by checking fluids and stocking with necessary equipment.
- Locate water and sewer mains and valves for contractors and daily work.
- Work on-call to complete necessary duties.
- Ensure continuous operation of water and sewer pipes by performing various repairs.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Class D Water License required within one year of employment.
- Knowledge of city policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of methods and materials used in water and sewer line maintenance.
- Knowledge of standard safety processes and work gear.
- Knowledge of water distribution systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skill in effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
