Overview

The Maintenance Worker-Utilities position focuses on repairing and maintaining water and wastewater systems, ensuring community safety and service continuity. The role emphasizes the importance of community values and employee empowerment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sites for work by placing hydraulic shoring jacks, excavating, and backfilling areas.
  • Remove and restore residential landscaping during water/wastewater repairs.
  • Make repairs to water/wastewater systems by determining necessary materials and resources.
  • Ensure site and traffic safety by placing and removing traffic cones and barricades.
  • Maintain vehicles by checking fluids and stocking with necessary equipment.
  • Locate water and sewer mains and valves for contractors and daily work.
  • Work on-call to complete necessary duties.
  • Ensure continuous operation of water and sewer pipes by performing various repairs.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Class D Water License required within one year of employment.
  • Knowledge of city policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of methods and materials used in water and sewer line maintenance.
  • Knowledge of standard safety processes and work gear.
  • Knowledge of water distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skill in effective oral and written communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
