Overview
AIT is the world's largest provider of automation, factory integration and tooling solutions dedicated to the global aerospace, defense, and space launch vehicle industries. The CWI Certified Weld Inspector performs inspections on welded products and ensures they meet specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Inspects and tests welded joints for visible defects and correct dimensions.
- Verifies part conformance with layout, blueprint, and work order specifications.
- Examines joints to detect flaws using flashlight and magnifying glass.
- Performs stress tests on joints and reviews results.
- Marks defective pieces and recommends methods for reworking.
- Records inspection data.
- Coordinates with the NDT Manager on required inspection and documentation.
- Communicates with fabrication department on priorities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- AWS Certification required.
- One to three years related experience and/or training.
- Five plus years as a MIG/TIG welder.
- Must be able to maintain CWI status.
- Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
- Knowledge of computer applications including email, databases, and word-processing programs.
