Overview

HII is seeking a Welder to join their Mission Technologies team, which supports the U.S. Navy's Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of aircraft carriers. The role involves performing various welding processes on shipboard piping and structural systems to assist with refit and fleet modernization.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding processes on shipboard piping and structural systems.
• Manage, oversee, schedule, and assign tasks to multiple jobs.
• Install piping and structural components utilizing various welding processes.
• Operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment.
• Perform maintenance and technical support on products.
• Analyze and evaluate products and related performance.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions.
• Install, upgrade, and remove products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
• Maintain effective customer communications and relations.
• Provide onsite training of customer support personnel.

Requirements

• High School education, Trade School, or equivalent.
• 2-6 years of related experience.
• Technical/professional certifications preferred.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
• Ability to qualify SMAW & GTAW (Stick/Tig) in carbon and stainless steel welding.
• Pass general and specific knowledge exam on welder workmanship.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
• Accurately fit-up, install, and weld structural and piping components.
• Communicate verbally and electronically, follow detailed instructions, and be self-motivated.
• Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies and regulations.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and/or specifications.
• Obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
• Obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Required travel: 0 - 10%.
