Overview
The Drilling Welder, under the direction of the Drilling Maintenance Manager, is responsible for daily welding, preventive maintenance, and repair maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to safety procedures and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Strictly adhere to and enforce all safety procedures and company policies.
- Immediately report all accidents and incidents following appropriate procedures.
- Comply with and consistently apply safety, environmental, and operating procedures.
- Weld and fabricate pipe spools, flanges, fittings, drilling specific alloys, and structural items.
- Safely plan and execute welded repairs to rig equipment.
- Assist mechanical technicians with their duties.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance for equipment.
- Place waste in appropriate containers and manage hazardous waste containers.
- Track status on own welding qualifications for work being done.
- Travel extensively to other locations, including rural areas, domestically and internationally.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary.
- Operate a vehicle in a safe manner.
Requirements
- Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the areas of assignment as would be acquired in three to four years of high school.
- Ability to perform or proven ability to learn code welding on steel, aluminum welding, pipe, and other procedures as required.
- Demonstration of welding capabilities may be required in the form of a certification test.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Basic understanding of applicable permitting, environmental, and safety compliance requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English at an effective level.
- Possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT’s auto insurance carrier.
Additional Information
- Position requires sitting 10% of the time and standing 90%.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.
- Must be able to wear a variety of protective equipment as required by safety procedures and regulations.
- Must be able to frequently climb and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways.
- Must be able to work at extreme heights and in confined spaces.
- Position operates outdoors with frequent exposure to severe weather conditions.
