Overview

This position operates welding equipment and performs moderate to complex fabrication tasks for prototype and production parts.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots all welding equipment while using required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Performs manual wire feed (MIG) welding.
  • Performs manual Heliarc (TIG) welding.
  • Conducts spot welding.
  • Programs and troubleshoots automated welding equipment.
  • Handles parts finishing.
  • Operates material handling equipment.
  • Trains less experienced welders.
  • Works closely with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering on prototype welding projects.
  • Fabricates items used in the facility and provides technical support for Tooling.
  • Produces and inspects production parts to maintain quality standards.
  • Completes all required documentation to comply with policies and procedures.
  • Promotes established safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Performs routine total preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Safely routes parts using material handling equipment.
  • Ensures a neat and organized workstation and effective communication in a multi-shift organization.
  • Engages in department continuous improvement efforts and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must possess basic to moderate computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform math calculations with an understanding of decimal/fraction equivalence.
  • Able to read job-related blueprints and develop work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspect assigned work using precision measuring equipment.
  • Completed proper material handling testing requirements.
  • Must be able to identify all tools and material types.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot problems to achieve permanent resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Generally requires at least 2-3 years of relevant welding experience.

  • This position operates on a weekend shift.
