Overview
The Welder position at FlightSafety International involves using hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to join metal components and fill holes in fabricated metal products. FlightSafety International is a leading aviation training company that provides training for aviation professionals globally.
Responsibilities
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts for welding.
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using various welding processes.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating or warping of materials.
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure them to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Layout, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly using measuring tools.
- Fabricate items for engineering research and development.
- Design and build fixtures for shop and maintenance use.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- HS Diploma/GED.
- 1-5 years of experience.
- Knowledge of oxy-acetylene and welding equipment.
- Ability to use taps/dies and workshop press.
- Familiarity with PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and welding mask.
