Overview
The Rework Welder SSBO is responsible for repairing castings to meet customer specifications using various welding techniques. The role involves welding, equipment maintenance, and adhering to safety practices while ensuring compliance with quality control standards.
Responsibilities
- Weld castings to customer and PCC specifications.
- Review inspection/rework analyst paperwork and tech cards.
- Identify and inspect prepared areas needing repair.
- Weld areas on castings using GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and PAW techniques.
- Weld in compliance with Process Control Procedures and external quality control standards.
- Place castings on benches, fixtures, or in bubble cabinets for welding.
- Use mirrors to complete welds in difficult areas as needed.
- Inspect front and back of completed welds to assure proper technique.
- Repair torch heads, replace power cables, and perform minor maintenance on welding tools.
- Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
- Safely operate all equipment and tools.
- Identify and report safety problems.
- Complete logs and records.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
Requirements
- Advanced welding skills demonstrated by completion of the PCC approved Welding Tech Series and Welding Certification in two applicable alloys or titanium at time of hire.
- Two years of applicable welding experience or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
- 20/30 correctable vision in both eyes and satisfactory passage of depth perception and color vision tests.
- Good eye/hand coordination.
- Ability to read and follow specifications on Tech Cards.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to eighty pounds.
- Ability to work in difficult working conditions including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes.
