Overview

The Field Service Technician, Intermediate is responsible for operational compression jobs, including the operation of compressor packages and gas processes, while also maintaining customer relationships and ensuring equipment availability.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, coordinates, and performs job activities consistent with Kodiak’s procedures and goals.
  • Troubleshoots complex repairs and major equipment overhauls.
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships.
  • Analyzes job parts and supply inventory to communicate with Supply Chain.
  • Takes corrective actions to ensure 98% or better mechanical availability of equipment.
  • Attends and participates in all HSE meetings and adheres to HSE protocols.
  • Maintains assigned units in a clean and presentable condition.
  • Completes reports and actions required by operating procedures.
  • Provides 24/7 coverage and works overtime as needed.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: OEM, Trade School or 2+ years comparable work experience in a related field.
  • Successful completion of Kodiak’s Short Service Employee (SSE) program and 1-2 years in an entry level Field Technician role.
  • 3+ years of compression process, production, and equipment related experience and/or training.
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and customer focus.
  • Advanced knowledge of compressor packages and mechanics of motor compressors.
  • Working knowledge of relevant HSE procedures and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Cat, Waukesha, and Ariel Certifications preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Additional Information

  • Requires operation of heavy equipment.
  • Requires standing for up to 75% of the time and sitting for up to 25%.
  • Requires climbing ladders or stairs and maintaining balance.
  • Must communicate and respond to coworkers and emergency cues.
  • Frequent lifting of at least 10 pounds and infrequent lifting of over 50 lbs.
  • Work in high noise environments and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Requires work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Must wear all required PPE.
