Overview

The Meter Technician Specialist position at AEP involves performing technical work related to the planning, testing, and maintenance of metering facilities. The role requires assisting with EPS inspections and meter programming, while ensuring compliance with ERCOT Protocol and EPS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Function as a team leader to resolve conflict and build consensus.
• Develop and present technical reports clearly and concisely.
• Make decisions affecting team work while maintaining awareness of risks.
• Understand and perform technical functions required in the assignment area.
• Prepare cost estimates for non-routine work and plan future assignments.
• Repair moderately complex electronic instruments and equipment.
• Develop software programs related to meter services activities.
• Test, maintain, and operate various types of metering equipment.
• Support Transmission and Generation level metering as required.
• Participate in the development of training material and provide training support.
• Perform acceptance evaluations on new equipment and document results.
• Provide assistance in technical work related to engineering.
• Perform duties in accordance with safety rules and report unsafe conditions.
• Comply with and support ethically sound behavior among employees.

Requirements

• Must have a two-year associate degree in electrical/electronic technology.
• Two years experience as a Meter Technician, Meter Electrician A, P&C Technician, or equivalent.
• Possess a valid state driver license.
• Attain required licenses, certifications, and permits for the area of responsibility.
• Must have safe work habits and adhere to all safety rules and practices.
• Acceptable written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work productively and effectively in a team environment.
• Must be willing to work overtime as required.
