Overview
The Welder position is crucial for project success, focusing on high-quality welding of various materials at job sites. Candidates should have at least one year of experience and be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and willing to assist with project tasks.
Responsibilities
- Layout, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Accurately interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, and blueprints.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts.
- Recognize various materials and demonstrate knowledge of material handling techniques.
- Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating.
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure for conformance with specifications.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to welding.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify the Superintendent.
- Perform various manual labor tasks as necessary.
- Proactively identify safety risks and hazards on the job site.
- Maintain a safe and clean job site.
- Follow project instructions from superintendent and/or foreman.
- Ensure proper safety gear is worn.
- Operate and carry out job duties in accordance with company values and ethics.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred.
- At least one year of experience as a Welder.
- Experience with 100% travel away from home preferred.
- General knowledge of construction.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices.
- Possess a valid state or federal ID.
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain a TWIC card.
- Pass structural weld test.
- Pass FHG-3 and FHG-7 weld tests.
- Pass Class I Fitters test.
