Overview

Kiewit is one of North America’s largest construction and engineering organizations, providing services in various markets. The Foundations Yard supports ongoing foundation projects by managing logistics, tooling, and maintenance to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and stick welding on fabricated metal components and tooling.
  • Weld using various processes including FCAW-S, FCAW-G, TGAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit parts for assembly.
  • Tack-weld, bolt, clamp, and assemble components.
  • Operate hand and power tools such as grinders and impacts.
  • Use cutting equipment like acetylene torches.
  • Inspect finished welds to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Repair and rework parts as needed.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate welders in the shop.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and production guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to meet production goals.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs of welding equipment.
  • Operate hoist and overhead cranes.
  • Assist with general labor and other shop duties when needed.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of SMAW (Stick) and GMAW (Mig) welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • May require a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • Must have a high awareness for safety.
  • Ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to understand and communicate instructions effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Welding certification or technical degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge of how to accurately read a measuring tape.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
  • Work in a construction environment with exposure to changing weather conditions.
  • Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
  • May need to use ladders, mechanical platforms, manlifts, or scaffolds.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
  • May be required to move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have required tools.
  • Must have experience with Mig/Stick Welding.
  • May require a U.S. Driver License.
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
