Overview

Puffer-Sweiven, a leader in process control and automation for over 80 years, is seeking a Machinist to assemble, repair, and fabricate parts using various mechanical equipment. The company is dedicated to providing advanced products and services to enhance efficiency and safety in process-intensive facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles, repairs and fabricates replacement and new parts by operating mechanical equipment.
  • Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units.
  • Installs repaired part into equipment and operates equipment to verify operational efficiency.
  • Operates metalworking machine tools to machine parts to specifications.
  • Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels.
  • Cuts raw material on a horizontal bandsaw as needed.
  • Deburs production and finished parts.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance of machines.
  • Maintains and secures work tools.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and maintains machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Turns off and locks out equipment when not in use.
  • Performs back-up for assembly shop and warehouse.
  • Provides on-the-job training to new employees as required.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least 5+ years of experience.
  • Must be able to operate manual machines without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to handle and read job/machine specific measuring tools.
  • Must be capable of machining ACME and Screw Pitch threads.
  • Must be able to read technical/CAD drawings.
  • Must be able to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks.
  • Attentive to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use computer applications and barcode scanners.
