Overview
Puffer-Sweiven, a leader in process control and automation for over 80 years, is seeking a Machinist to assemble, repair, and fabricate parts using various mechanical equipment. The company is dedicated to providing advanced products and services to enhance efficiency and safety in process-intensive facilities.
Responsibilities
- Assembles, repairs and fabricates replacement and new parts by operating mechanical equipment.
- Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units.
- Installs repaired part into equipment and operates equipment to verify operational efficiency.
- Operates metalworking machine tools to machine parts to specifications.
- Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels.
- Cuts raw material on a horizontal bandsaw as needed.
- Deburs production and finished parts.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance of machines.
- Maintains and secures work tools.
- Cleans, lubricates, and maintains machines, tools, and equipment.
- Turns off and locks out equipment when not in use.
- Performs back-up for assembly shop and warehouse.
- Provides on-the-job training to new employees as required.
Requirements
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have at least 5+ years of experience.
- Must be able to operate manual machines without direct supervision.
- Must be able to handle and read job/machine specific measuring tools.
- Must be capable of machining ACME and Screw Pitch threads.
- Must be able to read technical/CAD drawings.
- Must be able to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work tasks.
- Attentive to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use computer applications and barcode scanners.
