Overview
The Fleet Mechanic III position involves performing skilled mechanical work in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of county vehicles and equipment for Harris County Precinct One. The role ensures fleet assets operate safely and efficiently while complying with county policies and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on county-owned vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with county policies and applicable safety regulations.
- Respond to field service calls and perform roadside repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts used, labor hours, and completed services.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Seven (7) years of relevant experience.
- Automotive trade school certificate or equivalent in experience.
- Valid Texas State Commercial Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques for diagnosing and repairing vehicles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagnostic codes.
- Skills in operating specialized equipment such as lifts and power tools.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and vendors.
