Overview
Travis® Body & Trailer, Inc. is a manufacturing company that has grown rapidly since its inception in 1989, focusing on quality fabrication and innovation. The Production Lead role supports the production supervisor in executing the production schedule and achieving departmental goals while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Lead staff by providing proper training and resources.
- Drive initiatives across the department, including procedures and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all employees adhere to safety guidelines and company policies.
- Support the execution of the daily production schedule while meeting production goals.
- Perform in-process inspection checks to verify quality.
- Meet with department Supervisor to discuss daily production.
- Improve shift performance through new hire training and employee cross-training.
- Hold daily communication and safety meetings with shift employees in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Prioritize daily work assignments based on the production schedule in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping records and approve employee hours.
- Perform job closures in systems to track labor, materials, and completion status.
- Prepare and analyze efficiency and production reports to identify trends.
- Provide employee coaching and counseling in alignment with company policies.
- Support employee development through ongoing feedback and training initiatives.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Understanding of lean principles and ability to lead employees in using lean tools.
- Prioritize safety and follow safety and environmental guidelines.
- Ability to prioritize and work effectively.
- Understanding of Bill of Material structure and product flow.
- Willingness to learn and understand operations in assigned area.
- Flexibility, creativity, teambuilding, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills for discussing production and safety issues.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Information
- Must be able to work between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
- Occasional Saturdays may be required to meet production needs.
