Overview

The Power Plant Mechanic Assistant position involves performing semi-skilled and skilled mechanical work related to the repair and maintenance of various generating units and associated equipment. This role is part of the City of Glendale's workforce and emphasizes customer service, teamwork, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair and maintenance on combustion gas turbine generating units.
  • Maintain natural gas, landfill gas, and air compressor units.
  • Assist in battery energy storage system maintenance.
  • Ensure safe and efficient performance of duties.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to employees and vendors.
  • Model and practice high ethical standards.
  • Develop necessary skills through on-the-job training.
  • Foster a teamwork environment and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Participate in maintaining a secure computing environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in semi-skilled mechanical repair and maintenance work.
  • Experience in the maintenance and operation or repair of turbines and reciprocating engines.
  • Valid Class C California driver's license.
