Overview
The Facilities Mechanic - Elevator Systems position at UCLA supports the university's mission by maintaining and improving campus infrastructure. The role involves performing maintenance and repairs on various non-elevator equipment while working under the supervision of a journey-level Elevator Mechanic.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance and repairs on campus retractable bollard systems and loading dock equipment.
- Inspect assigned equipment for proper operation and diagnose system failures.
- Assist journey-level trades personnel with maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Operate and maintain a variety of power tools, hand tools, and testing equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders.
- Support emergency response activities involving bollard operations and loading dock equipment.
Requirements
- Ability to perform routine electrical maintenance tasks and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Working knowledge of power and hand tools and standard safe work practices.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently follow through on assignments.
- Skill in reading and writing standard English for clear communication.
- Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read project specifications and technical manuals.
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships and prioritize assignments.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
- Must possess a valid CA noncommercial Class C License.
