Overview

The Facilities Mechanic - Elevator Systems position at UCLA supports the university's mission by maintaining and improving campus infrastructure. The role involves performing maintenance and repairs on various non-elevator equipment while working under the supervision of a journey-level Elevator Mechanic.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance and repairs on campus retractable bollard systems and loading dock equipment.
• Inspect assigned equipment for proper operation and diagnose system failures.
• Assist journey-level trades personnel with maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Operate and maintain a variety of power tools, hand tools, and testing equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders.
• Support emergency response activities involving bollard operations and loading dock equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to perform routine electrical maintenance tasks and troubleshoot electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of power and hand tools and standard safe work practices.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently follow through on assignments.
• Skill in reading and writing standard English for clear communication.
• Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to read project specifications and technical manuals.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships and prioritize assignments.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
• Must possess a valid CA noncommercial Class C License.
