Overview

Millennium Space Systems (MSS), part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is seeking a Mechanical Technician Senior for their El Segundo, California location. This role involves supporting the fabrication, integration, and testing of space flight systems and support equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, installs, tests, checks out, and inspects mechanical spacecraft assemblies by interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Performs second party verifications and visually inspects mechanical assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Operates various materials handling equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Uses a wide range of machine tools including drill presses and grinders.
• Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing personnel on procedural issues.
• Supports other mechanical areas as defined by leadership.
• Cross-trains and mentors new hires.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• More than 5 years of experience with Structures Assembly, Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, and/or Final Assembly.
• More than 3 years of experience following written and verbal work instructions.
• More than 3 years of experience working with blueprints and specifications.
• More than 3 years of experience using precision measuring tools.
• More than 3 years of experience working with materials such as adhesives and composites.
• Ability to stand and move to handle products for extended periods.
• Capable of lifting 20lbs or more frequently.

• This position is primarily 2nd shift with potential additional shift requirements.
