Overview

Mason is a subsidiary of Transdigm that designs, manufactures, and markets highly engineered products for the aerospace and defense markets. The Tool / Die Maker III position involves operating various machines to fabricate and repair production tooling while ensuring compliance with specifications and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Determine and execute methods to fabricate and repair production tooling such as dies, fixtures, and molds.
  • Perform die work including sharpening dies and fabricating new punches or die block sections.
  • Establish build and repair routines, recording produced values and variances.
  • Change over cores and cavities of molds and fabricate or repair cores and cavities.
  • Construct or repair various fixtures for different applications.
  • Improvise or adapt tooling as needed for engineering data gathering.
  • Manufacture first run and production run parts when tools are not available.
  • Understand tool steel heat treating processes.
  • Set up and operate wire and sinker EDM machines as required.
  • Document general data related to daily work performed.

Requirements

  • Ability to use inspection instruments and precision measuring devices.
  • Ability to make coordination checks to tolerance and create part layouts.
  • Read and analyze complicated blueprints and drawings.
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D solid geometry and related mathematics.
  • Broad knowledge of metals and their reactions to processes used by the company.
  • Knowledge of inspection requirements and company quality standards.
  • Ability to keep accurate inspection records and communicate with engineering personnel.
  • Experience in laying out, fitting, and assembling parts.
  • Ability to fabricate specialized tools where no design is available.

Additional Information

  • This position works first shift from 7:00am - 3:30pm.
  • The position is primarily based inside the NPI – Toolroom but supports production as needed.
