Overview

Kerry is seeking a Lead Maintenance Mechanic for their Melrose Park location, part of the Meat division, which focuses on manufacturing batter blends, pastry blends, and breadcrumbs. This full-time position offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus and requires working early morning weekend shifts from Friday to Monday.

Responsibilities

• Complete building repairs and equipment installation.
• Troubleshoot and repair machinery such as extruders, mixers, conveyors, and metal detectors.
• Install and maintain pipe systems, hydraulic steam, and pneumatic equipment.
• Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other related equipment.
• Perform building maintenance including minor plumbing, welding, and general upkeep.
• Follow good manufacturing practices to maintain inventory and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

• 5-10 years of maintenance mechanic experience in the food industrial and/or bakery work environment preferred.
• High school diploma or GED is required; Apprenticeship or applicable certifications preferred.
• Basic technical knowledge of stainless steel welding/fabrication.
• Experience in high-speed packaging, welding, refrigeration (ammonia), and mechanical power transmission.
• Ability to use all types of welding, cutting, machine, and hand tools.
• Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) is a plus.
