Overview
The Plant Mechanic position at Texas Health Resources involves maintaining the efficient operation of the facility by performing repairs and preventive maintenance on various systems. The role emphasizes teamwork, mentorship, and a commitment to safety and excellence in a healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify equipment operational and maintenance needs.
- Implement preventive maintenance program for plant equipment, machinery and related facilities.
- Record mechanical equipment readings and ensure accuracy of records kept.
- Maintain plant safety features.
- Perform major repairs on machinery and the facility including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry and mechanical equipment.
- Work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Perform rotating on-call duties as scheduled.
- Conduct routine mechanical, electrical, or machining maintenance activities on equipment including lubrication, inspection, replacement of parts, and related plant work activities.
- Utilize the CMMS to keep accurate computerized records of activities, time, and materials required.
- Participate in hospital and departmental safety programs, educational opportunities, and related training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
- 3 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of equipment and utilities systems required.
- Healthcare environment experience is preferred.
- HVAC experience is preferred.
- High rise building experience is preferred.
- Valid Class C Driver's License required upon hire.
- Good written and verbal skills to read blueprints, work orders and interact with staff, tenants, contractors and others.
- Ability to use hand tools, electrical tools and others with little supervision.
- Ability to travel, climb stairs and ladders to access equipment; pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping and standing in difficult positions in crowded quarters.
