Overview

The Maintenance Lead Person is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities during the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor and performing regular maintenance tasks as needed. This position is located in Irving, TX, at Brakebush Brothers, a family-owned company known for providing high-quality chicken products.

Responsibilities

• Fill in for the Maintenance Supervisor when absent.
• Assign work in the absence of the supervisor.
• Monitor work activities and advise or instruct as necessary.
• Respond to calls for maintenance, electrical or utilities support.
• Attend scheduling meetings to understand current shift needs.
• Coordinate maintenance work within the shift.
• Monitor radio calls for maintenance help and get involved as necessary.
• Assist maintenance, electrical or utilities personnel with ongoing repairs.
• Perform regular maintenance, electrical or utilities work as required.
• Ensure installations and repairs comply with HACCP, USDA, and Food Safety guidelines.
• Maintain communication with supervisors, production, and QA.
• Lift 50lbs or more while performing maintenance.
• Work overtime as required or assigned.
• Perform electrical wiring and troubleshooting.
• Handle pipe fitting and plumbing tasks.
• Conduct welding and operate shop machinery.
• Work with sheet metal, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Manage electrical controls and instrumentation.
• Operate automatic equipment and troubleshoot PLC systems.
• Have knowledge of ammonia systems.

Requirements

• Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs and ladders for up to 8 hours per day.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects.
• Must meet Maintenance/Utilities back and task requirements.
• Must display strong problem-solving skills.
• Must pass Company math test.
• Must complete power jack/forklift training course, Lock Out/Tag Out, and Hazard Communication training courses.
• Must be able to perform all types of welding and produce quality welds that meet requirements and USDA approval.
• Must meet Journeyman Mechanic, Electrical, Utilities or equivalent in knowledge and experience.
• Must be able and available to work overtime as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
