Overview

The Quality Assurance Aircraft Structures Inspector position involves inspecting various aircraft components and assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Candidates must have a minimum of four years of relevant experience and must pass specific examinations prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect structural, electrical, and plumbing assemblies for workmanship and conformance to requirements.
  • Conduct final assembly and mating inspections of airplane structural components.
  • Inspect installations of functional units and systems, including operational checkouts.
  • Reject unacceptable items and prepare documentation for their disposition.
  • Inspect sealing operations on integral wing tanks for conformance to designs and specifications.
  • Ensure final washing, priming, painting, and internal trimming operations meet engineering prints and specifications.
  • Inspect final operational checkout of completed airplanes under simulated flight conditions.
  • Inspect jig loading, framing, skinning, riveting, and shakedown of structural assemblies.
  • Inspect functional installations for workmanship, clearance, tension, and alignment.
  • Approve or reject items based on inspection findings.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience in military aircraft structures quality assurance or related fields.
  • Experience in aircraft assembly, structures, electrical installation, or hydraulics installation.
  • One year of experience in aircraft finishes may offset one year of the four-year requirement.
  • Completion of the LMASC Chattahoochee Technical Institute Production Inspection Training Course may offset one year of the four-year requirement.
  • Passing score of the ASQ Certified Inspector examination may offset two years of the four-year requirement.
  • Must pass the Lockheed Martin entrance Q&MS Inspection examination.
  • Ability to satisfy requirements within the Human Factors Assessment.

Additional Information

  • The work will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
  • Ability to work remotely.
