Job Description

Overview

The Pipe Welder Journeyman CS/SS position involves planning, laying out, welding, installing, testing, and repairing various types of pipes and tubular products according to industry standards. The role requires skilled experience and the ability to work independently with precision.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, diagram, and lay out for pipe welder’s work.
  • Coordinate with field labor crew for efficient installations.
  • Position the weld setup, fit the piping, and perform welds with high precision independently.
  • Lay out and assemble pipes accurately according to production standards and specifications.
  • Make welding repairs and correct substandard welds.
  • Assist with coordination of Pre-Fabrication layout or installation.
  • Assist with rigging of material.
  • Operate air arc gouger, grinder, stress relieving machine, and other industry tools.
  • Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities needed for work activities.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance and take corrective action as needed.

Requirements

  • May require a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge and skills for the position.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and communicate written and oral instructions effectively.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to move about a construction/industrial site.
  • Constantly works in a construction environment with changing outdoor weather conditions.
  • Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
  • May need to use ladders, mechanical platforms, manlifts, or scaffolds to access work areas.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
  • May be required to move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
