Overview
The Pipefitter Journeyman position involves planning, laying out, installing, testing, and repairing various piping systems according to applicable standards. The role requires skilled experience in the field and involves working in a construction environment with various physical demands.
Responsibilities
- Maintain working knowledge of various types of pipe and pipe systems.
- Read isometric drawings, take measurements, fabricate and install piping efficiently.
- Align, bolt, and clamp together components of fabricated metal products for welding.
- Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications.
- Position and secure materials and workpieces during installation.
- Distinguish varying thickness and types of metal materials.
- Manually handle and securely apply rigging equipment.
- Operate tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut-off grinders, and pipe threaders.
- Layout and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, and supports.
- Hydro test piping systems.
- Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities for work activities.
- Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications.
Requirements
- May require a high school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field.
- Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
- Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of various tools and measurement tools.
Additional Information
- Constantly move about a construction/industrial site.
- Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
- May be required to use ladders, mechanical platforms, manlifts, and scaffolds.
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
- May be required to move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
