The Foreman/Welding position at Newport News Shipbuilding involves supervising and training skilled trades personnel to enhance productivity and quality of work. The company is a leading industrial employer in Virginia, specializing in the design and construction of U.S. Navy nuclear vessels.
Responsibilities
- Supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel.
- Trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed.
- Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees.
- Assists in the development of training procedures.
- Ensures compliance with all technical aspects of the job.
- Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations.
- Monitors job and budget performance for all shifts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree OR
- Apprentice Certification OR
- High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience OR
- Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience.
