Overview

The Foreman/Welding position at Newport News Shipbuilding involves supervising and training skilled trades personnel to enhance productivity and quality of work. The company is a leading industrial employer in Virginia, specializing in the design and construction of U.S. Navy nuclear vessels.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, assigns, coordinates, and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel.
  • Trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed.
  • Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees.
  • Assists in the development of training procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all technical aspects of the job.
  • Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations.
  • Monitors job and budget performance for all shifts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree OR
  • Apprentice Certification OR
  • High School and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience OR
  • Associate Degree in a Trade/Technical and 3 years of relevant manufacturing, shipbuilding, trade and/or military experience.
