Overview
The Terminal Operator position involves loading and unloading tank trucks, ships, and barges while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies. Kinder Morgan is a large energy infrastructure company focused on safe and efficient energy transportation and storage services.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload tank trucks, ships, and barges.
- Record product temperature and levels in storage tanks.
- Climb tank stairs, operate valves, pumps, and gauge tanks.
- Assist Operations with product transfer alignments including piping, pumps, and associated valves.
- Perform or assist in preventive and regular maintenance duties.
- Become a member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Perform all work in strict accordance with Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Perform all work in strict accordance with operating policies, procedures, and checklists.
- Perform work as assigned and directed by Foreman.
- Maintain training in Safety and Hazmat requirements at the facility.
Requirements
- Two or four year degree with any discipline from an accredited college or university or meet specific experience requirements.
- Honorable discharge from US military, any branch, or three years terminal Operations/Maintenance experience, or five years of general industry experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Must pass and complete Safety training/certification as required by customers and Kinder Morgan.
- Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones, including obtaining a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
- Must be able to pass respirator fit test.
- Proficient in comprehension of written work orders.
- Basic math skills required.
- Able to handle working with chemicals, acids, and petroleum products.
- Able to work with wrenches and pipe wrenches and other tools.
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with all levels of management.
- Must be willing to work in an outdoor environment.
- Must be willing to work overtime with little or no notice.
Additional Information
- Regularly exposed to outside in adverse weather conditions.
- Climb ladders and work at high elevations using proper safety equipment.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, etc. for extended periods of time.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
