Overview
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues in the fleet, reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor. This position requires a strong background in heavy truck equipment maintenance and repair.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance tasks.
- Conduct inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Perform safety inspections and checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Provide roadside emergency diagnosis and repair of roadside equipment as directed by supervision.
- Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles and equipment, including documentation of parts usage and repair times.
- Attend and successfully complete all safety and compliance training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and/or GED.
- Trade School Certification.
- 5 years’ experience in heavy truck equipment maintenance & repair or equivalent trade school and/or technical certifications.
- Familiarity with DOT CHP repair processes and controls for Drivers Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Ability to effectively communicate mechanical issues and required repairs.
- Perform all tasks safely and in accordance with applicable OSHA rules and regulations.
- Consistently behave in a manner that is appropriate and professional.
- Ability to read and comprehend service and technical information.
- Valid Class C Driver's License.
- Acceptable Driver's Record.
- Must possess personal tools.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Additional Information
- Schedule: 2:00PM - 10:30PM (Mon-Fri) + OT and Alternating Saturdays (8AM - 2PM)
- Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 paid in four installments upon reaching key milestones of continuous employment.
