Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining plant equipment in a state of readiness, performing inspections and preventative maintenance, and diagnosing and repairing a variety of mechanical equipment. This position requires a commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and performs preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Maintains an inventory of regularly required replacement parts.
  • Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs.
  • Reports required repairs or other findings to Supervisor.
  • Performs required emergency repairs on production equipment.
  • Adheres to all safety, environmental and company policies.
  • Completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Routinely walks the plant to inspect mechanical equipment.
  • Maintains crushers, conveyor belts, pulleys, pumps, screens and screen bearings.
  • Conducts a job safety analysis prior to diagnosis or repair.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and exhibits safe behaviors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in mechanical repair, installation, and construction in heavy industry.
  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical aptitude and general plant maintenance experience.
  • Experience with changing screens, welding, cutting torch, and hand tools.
  • Ability to operate a skid steer and man lift is a plus.
  • Proficient in hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Welding/fabrication skills highly desirable.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Basic computer skills.

Additional Information

  • Location: East Chicago Watling IN.
  • This position will require regular overtime.
