Overview

CMC is a Fortune 500 company that focuses on recycling and manufacturing in the steel industry. The Melt Shop Helper AZ1 position offers an opportunity to learn and grow within the steel and construction reinforcement industries while supporting the liquid process team with an emphasis on safety.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and uphold the CMC Safety Culture.
• Fill in as Scrap Crane Operator and Second Helper as needed.
• Replenish Melt Shop consumables.
• Operate mobile equipment.
• Communicate about production issues, concerns, and needs.
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift.
• Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures.
• Perform daily housekeeping duties in the work area.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using knowledge and communication.
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Stand for the duration of the shift and engage in frequent physical activity.

• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, and mists.
• Basic computer skills.
• Dependability in attendance and work completion.
• Flexibility to meet business needs.
• Ability to learn quickly and multitask.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Some overtime may be required.
• Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
