Overview

Vulcan Materials Company is the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials. As a Railroad Laborer, you will play a crucial role in promoting safety, operating trains, and maintaining equipment while contributing to meaningful work that impacts daily lives across the country.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety by prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others.
• Assist in operating the train on its assigned route.
• Operate hand-controlled rail switches, manual hand-wheel brakes, uncoupling levers, and remote control devices.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance activities around the train to improve performance and safety.
• Maintain and enter records of price, product, weight, and customer name into computers.
• Generate bills of sale, dray tickets, and bills of lading.
• Perform a variety of physical tasks including loading/unloading and operation of the train.

Requirements

• Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of general principles and practices regarding communication and train movements and operation is preferred.
• Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on company demands.
• Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
