Georgia Tech is a top-ranked public research university in Atlanta, committed to academic excellence, diversity, and innovation. The Plumber I position involves inspecting, repairing, installing, modifying, and maintaining plumbing and piping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, replace, test and troubleshoot components of sewer and domestic water systems including circulating pumps, piping, valves, controls, storage tanks and water heaters.
  • Operate, clean, repair, replace, test and troubleshoot components of natural gas system including piping, pumps, valves and controls.
  • Locate, inspect, clean, maintain, repair, replace, test and troubleshoot components of hot water reheat or chilled water system including pumps with motors, piping, valves, strainers and controls.
  • May obtain, schedule, coordinate and reconcile contract resources.
  • Obtain necessary materials and supplies; may include direct purchase from vendors if authorized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma.
  • Two to three years of job related experience.
  • Technical Diploma in plumbing or mechanical field preferred.
  • Journeyman level skills in the operation and maintenance of plumbing and piping systems.
  • Ability to operate machine tools, motor vehicle, hand/power tools and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
  • Working knowledge in building support/maintenance, general construction, utilities, equipment installation, safety procedures and mathematics.
  • Ability to read prints, drawings and schematics.
