Overview
Georgia Power is seeking experienced Apprentice Lineman candidates for statewide employment in Transmission construction. This physically demanding position requires prior transmission line work experience and involves extensive travel throughout Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Participate in a 3 to 3 ½ year training program.
- Work in the construction of Transmission Lines throughout Georgia.
- Pass a pre-employment evaluation.
- Demonstrate common skills, knowledge, and physical ability required for the position.
- Work four ten-hour days with overnight stays near construction sites.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year or more as Journeyman Lineman experience.
- Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to perform physically demanding activities in all weather conditions.
- A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Additional Information
- Weekly travel required with travel expenses covered by the employee.
- Current daily per diem is $178 for overnight lodging.
- Candidates may be away from home as many as 200 nights per year.
