Overview
Austin Industrial is a leader in self-perform maintenance, construction, and soft craft services for industrial companies across the U.S. The QA/QC Inspector role is crucial for ensuring welding safety and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections at project sites, focusing on welding, structural, and civil work.
- Monitor the progress of construction and ensure all processes are compliant with standards.
- Draft daily reports based on site observations, highlighting discrepancies or safety issues.
- Report non-compliance or other issues to the QA/QC Manager and Project Manager.
- Coordinate inspections to ensure that work aligns with client specifications and state laws.
- Map out welds to be performed and flag those for Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) when needed.
- Perform Non-Destructive Examinations (NDE) of welds as necessary.
- Fully inspect welds before and after the hydrostatic testing of welded piping or vessels.
- Witness the hydrostatic testing of welded piping or vessels to ensure integrity and compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with client QA teams to address quality concerns and ensure quality assurance standards are met.
- Oversee the work of welders in the Operations Department, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Interview, hire, and train employees as necessary.
- Plan, assign, and direct work to ensure successful project completion.
- Evaluate employee performance, reward accomplishments, and address issues like complaints or non-performance.
Requirements
- Associate degree preferred.
- Valid Driver's License, TWIC Card, and Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) ASNT (SNT-TC-1A) Level II in one or more method: PT, UTT, or RTI preferred or equivalent education.
- 8 years of Quality Control experience in the industrial industry.
