Overview

Construction Inspectors perform construction-related inspections requiring specific certifications and experience, ensuring quality and adherence to building codes and project specifications. They prepare inspection reports, communicate findings, and maintain safety standards on construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
  • Perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy.
  • Communicate information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed.
  • Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspectors and/or Project Managers.
  • Assist more senior inspectors on projects.
  • Maintain equipment and calibration.
  • Follow safety rules and practices and report safety issues to management.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience as an Engineering Technician or other applicable experience.
  • 1 year experience in construction inspection preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
  • Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
  • At least one or more certifications in specified areas such as NICET, ICC, AWS, or ASNT.
