Overview

Granite Construction is seeking a General Laborer to perform various tasks related to construction and infrastructure. The company values its employees as its most important asset and aims to build a strong partnership with them.

Responsibilities

• Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.
• Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.
• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications, using pick and shovel.
• Mixes concrete using a portable mixer.
• Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete using float, trowel, or screed.
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Performs a variety of tasks involving dextrous use of hands and tools, such as sawing lumber, dismantling forms, and removing projects from concrete.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience.
• Appropriate training and experience required.
• Ability to follow specific directions.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties which may often change.
• Ability to work within standards of accuracy.
• Ability to repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure.
• Ability to evaluate information using measurable standards.
• Physically able to stand or walk for long periods.
• Physically able to frequently lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds.
• Physically able to climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects.
• Physically able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
