Overview
Wight & Company is a nationally recognized, award-winning architecture, engineering, and construction firm seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Professional in Structural Engineering. This entry to mid-level position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects while collaborating with experienced engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural engineering analysis, design, and calculations for vertical building structures under the supervision of a senior engineer.
- Analyze and design structural steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry framing systems for vertical building structures.
- Participate in the submittal of documentation for permitting and regulatory review with local agencies.
- Utilize RAM Structural System, SAP2000, Enercalc, and associated engineering analysis and design software.
- Utilize Autodesk Revit Structure for building information modeling (BIM).
- Assist in the preparation of design documentation including BIM models, drawings, and specifications.
- Conduct research on materials, products, building codes, and sustainable design practices.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery.
- Perform onsite surveys of existing building conditions and document field measurements.
- Engage in construction phase activities including submittal review and site observations.
- Participate in cross-discipline career development and continuous learning opportunities.
- Adapt to various roles within a project and proactively accept tasks beyond the primary scope.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an ABET accredited structural engineering program.
- 2-5 years of full-time structural engineering experience in an engineering firm.
- Exposure to analysis, design, and documentation for vertical building projects.
- Internship experience in an engineering firm is a plus.
- Knowledge of IBC, ASCE, and ICC Building Codes and Standards is a plus.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam and EIT Certification is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) license is a plus.
- Skills in critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, technical expertise, attention to detail, adaptability, and effective communication.
