Overview

A growing multidisciplinary consulting firm is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer (PE) to join its New York team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects while developing expertise in structural design, assessment, rehabilitation, and investigation work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building and support structure projects utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and other construction materials.
  • Develop engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation.
  • Prepare construction drawings, details, specifications, and related deliverables.
  • Review shop drawings, respond to contractor inquiries, and support construction-phase services.
  • Conduct site visits to document existing conditions and observe construction progress.
  • Evaluate existing structures and develop repair, rehabilitation, strengthening, or retrofit solutions.
  • Participate in forensic investigations and structural assessments as required.
  • Conduct quality reviews and ensure compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines and project stakeholders throughout project development.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
  • Support proposal preparation, technical narratives, and business development initiatives.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or challenges.

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • Approximately 3-6+ years of structural engineering experience within a consulting or design environment.
  • Strong background in structural calculations, analysis, and construction documentation.
  • Experience using structural analysis and design software.
  • Familiarity with Revit or comparable BIM software is preferred.
  • Strong written communication skills with experience preparing technical reports and calculations.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to perform occasional site visits and travel as required.
