At NV5, we are a team of talented professionals, engineers, and consultants dedicated to empowering employees to make a positive impact on communities. The Forensic Structural Engineer role involves managing structural forensic engineering assignments and providing expert assessments and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients before and after site visits and post report production to review scopes and explain findings.
  • Perform on-site interviews to collect histories, data, and concerns.
  • Photograph site conditions to explain conditions and determine causes of loss.
  • Review codes and standards to develop defensible conclusions for clients.
  • Maintain good project data management and storage practices.
  • Supervise junior engineers in field work and report development.
  • Develop reports outlining site observations, applicable codes, standards, findings, and conclusions.
  • Testify in legal proceedings as required.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering.
  • M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Residential and/or Commercial inspection and assessment experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practices is required.
  • Litigation experience is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain one within 6 months.

Additional Information

  • Remote position based in Dallas, TX.
  • Requires constant travel within 150 miles of office location.
