At NV5, we are a team of talented professionals, engineers, and consultants dedicated to empowering employees to make a positive impact on communities. The Forensic Structural Engineer role involves managing structural forensic engineering assignments and providing expert assessments and reports.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients before and after site visits and post report production to review scopes and explain findings.
- Perform on-site interviews to collect histories, data, and concerns.
- Photograph site conditions to explain conditions and determine causes of loss.
- Review codes and standards to develop defensible conclusions for clients.
- Maintain good project data management and storage practices.
- Supervise junior engineers in field work and report development.
- Develop reports outlining site observations, applicable codes, standards, findings, and conclusions.
- Testify in legal proceedings as required.
Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering.
- M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
- Residential and/or Commercial inspection and assessment experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practices is required.
- Litigation experience is a plus.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
