Overview
The Intermediate Structural Engineer supports the design and execution of structural designs for industrial projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design steel and concrete structures and foundations for industrial systems.
- Develop conceptual designs resulting in optimal layouts and reduced costs.
- Review and provide structural input on mechanical drawings, layouts, and vendor proposals.
- Prepare calculations, hand and/or CAD sketches, and direct designers in developing project drawings.
- Review structural shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction.
- Participate in project meetings and coordinate with internal teams.
- Travel to project sites as needed.
- Lead portions of projects by developing the designs and coordinating with engineers and 3D designers.
- Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, lead assigned projects as the Structural Lead Engineer.
- Review work (calculations, models, drawings) and provide feedback.
- Responsible for the quality of assigned projects, including adherence to PENTA standards, budgets and schedule.
- Assist with estimates and change orders.
- Act as Engineer of Record (as licensed) and support department management when needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in structural engineering (industrial project experience preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or must be actively pursuing.
- Good knowledge of current codes - AISC (Steel), ACI (Concrete), and ASCE 7.
- Good knowledge of SAP2000, RISA-3D and STAAD.Pro.
- Working knowledge of Revit for BIM coordination.
