Job Description

Overview

The 2nd Shift Robotic Welder position involves operating weld machines to fabricate metal parts or assemblies, requiring knowledge of welding theory and various welding techniques. The role is based in Mayville and operates from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Operate one or more weld machines to fabricate metal parts or assemblies.
  • Lift work pieces manually or using a hoist and secure them in fixtures.
  • Calculate and set controls for machine factors like wire feed speed and amperage.
  • Inspect and measure machined work pieces for conformance to specifications.
  • Unload welded frames from the robotic welder and place them in appropriate containers.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts for welding.
  • Remove rough spots from workpieces using grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using various tools.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Perform all functions involved in the operation of the robotic welder.
  • Maintain accurate counts of parts and label finished part containers.
  • Perform basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as needed.
  • Maintain company quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.
  • Read job specifications to determine welding and material requirements.
  • Examine finished work pieces for conformance using measurement instruments.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow safety regulations.
  • May perform other related duties or work at different workstations as needed.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an internal welding test.
  • Previous knowledge of fixtures and weld setup parameters.
  • Basic understanding of computers and ability to perform related functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and manuals.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation and self-motivation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Competent at basic dimensional measuring and use of precision tools.
  • Demonstrated competency in basic shop math.
  • Ability to work with various types of metal forming constraints.
  • Previous experience with overhead crane use is desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.
  • Ability to work in an efficient and timely manner.
