Overview
The Structural Trailer Welder (GMAW) position involves laying down MIG welds on trailer frames and assemblies, ensuring structural soundness and compliance with specifications. The role requires proficiency in reading blueprints and working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and organization.
Responsibilities
- Lay down MIG (GMAW) welds on trailer frames and assemblies using shop jigs and fixtures.
- Decode schematics, prints, and welding symbols to build to exact tolerances.
- Cut and prep metal with precision tools; fit components to spec.
- Verify weld quality and structural compliance through visual checks.
- Use hand and power tools standard to metal fabrication.
- Champion safety: follow procedures and wear PPE at all times.
- Maintain an organized workspace.
- Keep team leads and production supervisors informed and aligned.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of MIG welding experience (manufacturing or trailer production preferred).
- Pass a practical welding assessment.
- Strong blueprint/technical drawing and tape-measure proficiency.
- Comfort in a fast-moving, physically intensive environment.
- Reliable, on-time, and team-oriented mindset.
- Able to stand, bend, lift, and stay on your feet for long periods.
